What kind of organized lay Buddhist education is available in urban China today? This talk focuses on a group active between 2010 and 2022 that provided a highly structured eight-year program of Buddhist study. We will introduce the study group’s structure, curriculum, and how the study sessions were organized. In particular, we will focus on the ways that the program tried to encourage participants to move from theory to practice and incorporate Buddhist teachings into their everyday lives.
